Grocery Shopping Tips

Physical distancing is the most effective to currently combat the COVID-19 virus. It is a virus that is deadly before it is symptomatic. It lives on plastic and steel up to 72 hours and cardboard for up to 24 hours. Please consider the following tips when grocery shopping.

• Make a vow not to touch your face while shopping.
• Wear gloves into the store and bring a Clorox/Lysol wipe to wipe down cart.
• Bring a list and try to create the list according to the flow of the store.
• Do not label shop, be deliberate in what you need and want and pick up.
• Assume everything you touch has the virus.
• Bring only a credit card or cash with you to pay. Leave pocketbooks at home.
• At checkout maintain distances of 6 feet when possible.
• Use the store bags, leave your reusable bags at home.
• Take your bags to the car and return your cart.
• Walk back to the store and remove your gloves, taking them off from the cuff to pull inside out and dispose of them in a barrel. Bring a baggie with you in case there is no trash can, so you can enclose the gloves in the baggie and dispose of at home.
• If you can leave nonperishable items in the garage or porch for 72 hours, these will be COVID-19 free.
• What you can’t leave outside, you must assume each item has the virus on it. Fruits and vegetables get scrubbed down with soap and water, cereal comes out of box and left in plastic bag, and all other items are wiped down with sanitizer.
• Putting items in the freezer does not kill the COVID 19, so what you put in the freezer must also be washed down.
• When all is put away, wipe down counter tops, wash clothes and take a shower.

We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.
