MISSION STATEMENT
“To bring dignity, respect and support to elders through educating others.”
My name is Pamela McKinley, founder and owner of Strategies and Solutions for Elders, LLC. I have been working with elders for nearly forty years. As a licensed physical therapist assistant for the first twenty years of my career, I worked with elders in rehabilitation facilities, hospitals and private practice settings. During that time, I collaborated with a team of allied health professionals while gaining essential knowledge and learning the value of an interdisciplinary approach. At the same time, I was also advocating and caring for several elders in my family. Through that experience of navigating medical, physical, emotional and family dynamics, I realized the impact of having a good plan. It inspired me to share my experience and knowledge with others.
For the next twenty years, I was co-founder and co-owner of Family Tree Home Care, a premier home care agency. Throughout that career, I mentored, trained and collaborated with many caregivers. Our team served hundreds of elders, many living with various stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. We fully supported our clients and their families while collaborating closely with other professionals: doctors, nurses, care managers, social workers, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s), Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNA’s), and many others who served our clients through the progression of their disease. I ensured that each care plan was tailored toward each client’s individual needs, and that their dignity and respect were a top priority.
In following my passion for improving elder care, in 2019 I launched Strategies and Solutions for Elders. My mission continues to be the same as it has been for the past two decades: to advocate for and support elders. My practice is committed to sharing what I have learned and applying that knowledge through the development and application of a supportive, comprehensive approach for caregivers, medical professionals, and client families.
As an Elder Care Consultant, I can support Dementia training either in your facility or for a standalone professional. I am a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) for the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) and lead seminars on Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care. I am also a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Practitioner (CMDCP) through the International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (ICCDP). The Montessori Dementia care approach focuses on four important principles: quality, respect, dignity, and trust. It is a valuable approach when working with both those living with dementia and the caregivers who support them.
It has always been my belief that knowledge is power, and a well-informed community is a dementia friendly community. My forty years of experience working closely with elders, and twenty years training and mentoring caregivers, makes me the perfect consultant for your elder care planning and to manage and deliver your dementia training.
